Darley R. Vaughan

Darley Vaughan, 84, quietly passed away Monday evening, July 17, 2017.

Born October 13, 1932, in Butler, Darley Ruthene List, was daughter of the late Lonnie List and Ruth Whiteside List. Darley lived on the family’s Saxonburg farm, attended Rocky Run School, Winfield High School then Slippery Rock Teaching College and taught 2nd grade at Clinton Elementary School. She married Glenn Vaughan on June 20, 1953 in Montery California. She stopped teaching to work in the home raising 4 children. Darley loved her God, her church and her family. For many years she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School as a life-long member of Clinton Presbyterian Church in Saxonburg where she was a deacon but also enjoyed baking, reading, chatting on the phone to friends and entertaining family. In addition Pete and Darley were long-time volunteers for Meals on Wheels.

Celebrating her life are Pete, her husband for 64 years, children Scott (Nancy) Vaughan of Columbus, Ohio, Paula Vaughan of Sarver, Susan (Dan) Herper of Largo, Florida and David (Danielle) Vaughan of Butler as well as grandchildren Jessica, Cody, Kathleen, Tara, Leah, Erin, Marc, Tori and great-grandchildren Judah and Sarah who agree she was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mila Sue List and a infant son Thomas Glenn Vaughan.

Friends will be received on Friday, July 21 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Fox Funeral Home, Inc., 410 W. Main Street, Saxonburg and on Saturday, July 22 at Clinton Presbyterian Church, 197 Glade Mill Road, Saxonburg, from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with the burial to follow immediately.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Freeport Meals on Wheels.
