Edgar W. Lawson

Edgar Weber Lawson, age 90 and a resident of Jefferson Township, Butler County, PA, passed away in the VNA Inpatient Hospice Center on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 11:35 am. Born June 20, 1926 in Allegheny County, he was the son of the late Brady Oland Lawson and the late Carrie Weber Lawson.

Mr. Lawson graduated from Butler High School in 1944 and served with the 50th Signal Corps on the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the erection department at Pullman Standard Railroad Car Manufacturing and farmed the family farm. He attended Butler Assembly of God in Mount Chestnut. He enjoyed sports, especially watching his children play, camping, doing crosswords, and playing boggle. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and getting up early in the morning and spending the entire day in the woods or on the water.

Edgar is survived by his wife, Sara June Baker Lawson, whom he married August 7, 1953, and by 4 daughters and 3 sons, Patricia (William) Singer of Butler, Ginger (Paul) Harbison of Connoquenessing, Paul (Robin) Lawson of Butler, Barbara (Tim) Yates of Taipei, Taiwan, Mark (Joy) Lawson of Bluffton, SC, Samuel (Amy) Lawson of Butler, and Rebecca Lawson of Manila, Phillipines. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, Matthew (Valerie) Harbison, Stephanie (Ryan) Trulick, Valerie (Jeff) Jones, Haley Lawson, Philip Lawson, Natalie (Douglas) Hoffer, Carrie Lawson, Jonathan (Kaitlin) Yates, Jordan Harbison, Tyler (Elsie) Harbison, Moriah Lawson, Summer Lawson, Janine Yates, Zachary Lawson, Karen Yates, Justin Harbison, Noah Lawson, Brady Lawson, Samantha Lawson, Trisha Yates, Trent Lawson, Nathan Yates, and Trevor Lawson and seven great grandchildren, Savannah, Garrett, Gavin, Blake, Dylan, James and Evangeline.

He is preceded in death by one son, Luke A. Lawson and his only sister, Betty Jean Lawson Maharg.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 6-8 pm and Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Fox Funeral Home, Inc., 410 W. Main Street, Saxonburg.

Services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor George Miller officiating.

Interment with military honors performed by the Saxonburg American Legion 683 follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Butler Assembly of God or the Visiting Nurses Association, 115 Technology Drive, Butler PA 16001.
