Harold Schnaible

Harold W. Schnaible, 91 of Pittsburgh passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016.

Harold was born April 5, 1925 in Lafayette, Indiana to Albert F. Schnaible and Stella L. Schuesler Schnaible. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Lt. John Schnaible who died while serving with Army during WWII, and Albert Paul Schnaible.

He attended St. James Lutheran Church grade school (1931-1939) and Jefferson High School (1939-1943). He graduated from Purdue University in 1955 with a BSChE, and MSChe and PhD in chemical engineering. Upon graduation, he moved to Pittsburgh, PA and worked for Gulf Oil Research for 4 years in U.S. Steel Research for 20 years.

Harold had an avocation for organ playing. He was the organist and choir director at the University Lutheran Chapel, near the campus of Purdue University, from 1946-1955. He was the organist at Epiphany Lutheran Church from 1956-1985 and at First Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church from 1985-2010. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Hard held offices at First Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church being elder as well as a Bible class teacher.

He is survived by 5 nieces and nephews; John A. Schnaible, Diana Schnaible Hays, Nanette Schnaible Diogo, Thomas Schnaible and Carl Schnaible. He also has 7 great nieces and nephews, and 11 great great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Ministries on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Haven 1 with Pastor Douglas H. Spittel officiating.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10 am at the Springvale Cemetery, Lafayette, Indiana with Pastor Brian Borger officiating.
