Louise M. Shaffer Basilone, 95, of Cabot passed away on July 8, 2017 at the Fair Winds Manor.

Born October 27, 1921 in Solley, MD, she was the daughter of Clinton Gurnee and Sarah Keyes Gurnee.

Louise had worked as a Clerk for State of Maryland. She was a member of Cabot U.M. Church, a former member and past president of the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxillary. She was engaged in many school and church activities including the church choir and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed swimming with the senior swim group at Days Inn.

Surviving are her daughters, Leslie (Patrick) Shaffer Russell of Orlando, FL, Irene (Robert) Traggiai of Cabot, 2 step-sons Frank and John Basilone of Orlando, FL, 3 grandchildren, Christopher (Virginia) Traggiai, Angela (David) Murrrman and Anthony Traggiai, 5 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Caden, Carsen, Christopher and John David, 1 nephews and 2 nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband, William H. Shaffer, 2nd husband, Frank Basilone, 1 daughter, Margaret Shaffer Snell and son-in-law Robert and 1 brother, William Gurnee.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, 11:00 am at the Cabot United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jason McQueen officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Park Cemetery, New Castle.
