William Edward Scherder, 77, passed away at his home in Saxonburg on September 20, 2016.

Born November 19, 1938 in Penn Hills, PA, he was the son of the late Edward Anthony Scherder and Mary Virginia Cooper Scherder.

He worked as a builder. Ed was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot and the NRA. Ed was a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren on the family farm.

Surviving are his loving wife, Virginia Seko Scherder, who he married February 27, 1960, his children, Kimberly Ann (Greg) Fitzgerald of Saxonburg, Bobbie Lee (Robert) Hawranko of Saxonburg, Edward Anthony (Angela) Scherder of Naples, FL, and Jeannine (Kevin) Mullen of Saxonburg, sister, Carol Hilyard of Saxonburg, 8 grandchildren; Gregory & Carly Fitzgerald, Rachel & Robbie Hawranko, William Edward & Caroline Jean Scherder, and Leelah & Adam Ohayon, and 2 step grandchildren. Meredith & Brendan Mullen and many nieces and nephews. He was also a "second father" to Can Gurel, an exchange student from Turkey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters.

A private family visitation was held. 

Friends and family are invited to a memorial Mass on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 315 Stoney Hollow Road, Cabot, PA 16023 with Rev. Mark Pattock, OFM Cap. officiating.
