Caroline T. (nee/ Traficante) Hawkey, 86, of Butler passed away on April 22, 2024 in Pittsburgh, PA in the city in which she was born August 31, 1937.
Surviving are her children, Carl Richard (Gay) Hawkey of Butler, Martina (Anthony) Mancuso of Blairsville and Lisa (John Spacek) Hawkey of Richmond, VA. She is preceded in death by her husband James Edward Hawkey, siblings, Michael Traficante and Betty Copeland.
Caroline grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School. She worked as a Mortgage Officer at Citizens National Bank, while raising her children, and was involved in Credit Women's International. She also served as Secretary at Keystone Crystal Corporation, contributing to the success of her husband's enterprise.
After her children were grown, Caroline maintained her home and spent many hours every summer gardening. Inside her home, she had plants that rivaled those found in a conservatory. She had a deep love for animals and enjoyed the company of dogs, cats and a bird over the course of her lifetime. Her children hold fond memories of her playing the piano, dancing and showcasing her culinary skills. She was a superb cook and baker. she loved to entertain over the holidays. She enjoyed her lifelong friends and always looked forward to seeing them. They were fortunate to have many lifelong friends who they cherish spending time with.
Friends will be received on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 2-6 pm at Fox Funeral Home, Inc., Saxonburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be specified to "Activities Director at Concordia Fox Chapel Only", Concordia Lutheran Ministries Foundation 134 Marwood Road Cabot, PA 16023, would be appreciated. Caroline cherished the activities organized by the director, who finds creative was to engage everyone in recreational pursuits on a limited budget.
