Betty J. Bell, 83

Born on April 14, 1934, Betty J. Bell, formerly of Federal Street, and recently of Driftwood Drive with her daughter, died on January 5th, 2017, in Butler, PA.

Betty was born in Forbes Road, PA, and was a graduate of Uniontown High School. Along with her husband Thomas, they owned and operated Bell’s Dairy Bar on the corner of Woodlawn and Delaware Avenue in Uniontown before moving to Butler, PA.  She was an employee of Kroger grocery for twenty years before retiring. Betty was also a member of a ladies’ card club that would go on to be a close-knit group of friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother, Michael Hyjurick and Anna Dzurko Hyjurick; her sisters Anna Marie Krassa and Dorothy Shergy, and brother Michael Hyjurick; her beloved husband Thomas E. Bell Sr., her son Thomas E. Bell Jr., and son-in-law Ralph Crusan Jr. She has three living sisters-in-law: Jane Hyjurick, Dolores Bell, and Joan Bell.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Debra Crusan; grandsons Erik Fry and his wife Stephanie, Sean Fry and his wife Nicole, Brian Bell, and Jonathan Bell; step-grandsons Marc Crusan and his wife Nan, and Keith Crusan and his wife Brandi; great-grandchildren Coby Fry, Julia Fry, and Allison Fry; step-great-grandchildren Howard Crusan, Elizabeth Crusan, Joshua Crusan, and Max Crusan;  as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was the soul of hospitality, and is remembered as not only a loving mother and grandmother, but also a friendly neighbor, caring friend, and generous woman. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Herman, PA on Thursday, January 11th at 10 am, with a private burial at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice Care division in Butler, PA.
