Maria Gieger Obituary

Maria Johanna Gieger, 90 of Saxonburg, passed away on August 7, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born July 4, 1928 in Herzmanns, Germany, she was the daughter of the late John and Maria Huber.

Maria was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family. She was an avid volunteer with area organizations.

Surviving are sons, Arno (Julie) Gieger of Westerville, OH, and Roland Gieger of New Fairfield, CT, granddaughter, Cassandra (Samuel) Sherwood of Charleston, SC, grandson, Kurt Gieger of Westerville, OH, and grandson, James Gieger of Chino Hills, CA, a great grandson, Granger Sherwood of Charleston, SC, and sister, Dora Huber of Herzmanns, Germany.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Gieger, and sister, Rosa Weber.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Fox Funeral Home, Inc., Saxonburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
