Mary Jane Thompson, 72, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Levine & Dixon Hospice House at Southminster, Charlotte, NC after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born February 20, 1945 in Chicora, PA, she was the daughter of John L. Williams and Dorothy Collier Williams.

She was a retired teacher's assistant from Huntingtown Farms Elementary in Charlotte, NC and had previously been employed at Castle Rubber in East Butler, PA. Mary Jane was a graduate of Karns City High School, PA. She loved cooking for her family and extended this love by teaching her granddaughters this craft, especially baking. She was known for her delicious pumpkin pies and zucchini bread. Her favorite moments in life were spent being a grandma, which was her true calling.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Larry Thompson of Charlotte, whom she married September 9, 1967 and would have celebrated 50 years with this year; a son Michael Thompson and daughter in law Tawana Thompson of Rock Hill, SC; a daughter Melissa Thompson-Camden and son in law Chris Camden of Knoxville, TN; three adored grandchildren Alyssa, Kennedy, and Tess; and two sisters in law who were more like sisters, Karen Buss of Saxonburg, PA and Barb Thompson of Slippery Rock, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well two brothers Dick and Jack Williams.

Friends and loved ones will be received Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 10 am until 11am at Fox Funeral Home, Inc., 410 W. Main St, Saxonburg, PA. A service will directly follow at the funeral home with Reverend John Porter officiating.

Interment will follow at Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Saxonburg, PA.

Memorial donations may be made on her behalf to Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster, Charlotte, NC or Concordia Lutheran Ministries Hospice of Cabot, PA; or a hospice of your choice.
