Mary (Magdaline) Damico Rusnak, 97, formerly of Penn Twp, died peacefully at Elmcroft of Saxonburg on Monday, July 30, 2018.
Born September 10, 1920 in Charleroi, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Damico and Mary Hornick Damico. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
At an early age, Mary learned to play the old parlor organ. Music was an important part of her life. She enrolled in Art school in Minneapolis and later at Penn State for industrial accounting, which enabled her to get a job at the Bantam Company of Butler, but after a few months of working inside, she decided to go on to what she loved to do...draw and sketch flowers.
She loved to travel and has been to many places around the world. Her favorites were Austria and Switzerland.
She was an active member of the Butler Garden Club and did illustrations for them. Mary also helped with the book, Penn Panorama with writings and illustrations of Penn Township in the last 100 years.
Mary loved visiting all the neighboring garden centers, admiring all the flowers. Her love of nature, music and flowers has been passed down with several "artists" in the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Rusnak and 7 siblings.
At her request there will be no visitation or services, private interment will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
