Bernice Thoma, 84, of Saxonburg, passed away on October 19, 2023 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
Born April 23, 1939 in Butler, she was the daughter of Bernard Gajewski and Helen (Yankowski) Gajewski.
Bernice had worked as a Secretary for West Penn Power. In her earlier years, she was a member of the St. Stanislaus R.C. Church in Lyndora and currently a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Parish- Holy Sepulcher Church. Bernice was a volunteer at the Butler Health System. She was a member of Brady's Bend American Legion Post #488 and Saxonburg VFW Post #7376. Bernice enjoyed an evening glass of wine, cheering on the Steelers, Pens & Pirates, cooking, boating at East Brady and her weekly card club for the past 40 years.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Thoma, Jr., whom she married on January 30, 1960, two sons, Brian (Lori) Thoma of Butler and Bruce (Laura) Thoma of Butler, her brother, John Gajewski of Butler, 5 grandchildren, Brad (Kylie) Thoma, Nicki Thoma, Katie Thoma, Maddi (Bob) Jackson, Ben Thoma and 3 great-grandchildren, Brycen, Brody and Barrett and her daughter-in-law, Kimberly Thoma
She is preceded in death by her parents Bernard Gajewski, and Helen Yankowski Gajewski.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the St. Mark the Evangelist Parish-Holy Sepulcher Church on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Charles Bober officiating
Interment will follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.
