Berton D. Mottern, 89, of Sarver, passed away on July 7, 2026 at the Quality Life Services-Sarver.
Born January 12, 1937 in Oakland Twp., he was the son of Orie M. Mottern and Mary Florence (McMillen) Mottern.
Bert served in the US Army in Germany for 2 years and worked at Equitalbe Gas Co. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Saxonburg.
Surviving are his children; Brian (Carolyn) Mottern of Warfordsburg, PA, Shawn (Cathy Hunt) Mottern of Myrtle Beach, SC, Nicole (Louie Bernardo) Mottern of Apollo, PA; four grandchildren, Erin (Danny), Timothy (Anna), Olivia (Justin), Katlyn (Andrew) and two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Emma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and the love of his life Beryl, whom he married on August 16, 1958.
Bert is remembered fondly for his kindness, work ethic, love of the outdoors, appreciation of John Deere tractors and devotion to his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saxonburg at 10:30am with associate minister Jeannine Sanford officiating.
