Donald Leo Hortert, 88, of Butler passed away on April 29, 2024 at his home.
Born January 28, 1936 in Butler, he was the son of Ferdinand Hortert and Anna Kovacik Hortert.
Don served in the Marine Corps during Vietnam, then became a recruiter, serving for 20 years. He then worked at the Butler VA Medical Center for 20 years. Don enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading and puzzles.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Hortert, whom he married September 5, 1964, his daughter, Sheri Wilson of Butler, his son, Donald (Yakuan) Hortert, Jr. of Pensacola, two sisters, Dorothy Beblo of Butler and Julia Lacuesta of Butler, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Joseph Hortert, Rollie Hortert, James Hortert and William Hortert and two sisters, Frances Uram and Patricia Goepfert.
Private graveside services will be held at the Summit Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
