Donald J. Wonderling, 90 of Sarver, Pennsylvania went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 4th surrounded by his beloved wife, Lynn and his children by his side.
Don was the loving father of Donn T. (Tobee) Wonderling and Heather Wonderling and Granddad of Michael, Finn, Remo, Asa, Sergio, Alberto and Benicio.
Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Jerry, Harry, Eugene, Merle, Vic, Lloyd and Floyd. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by his sister, Gladys Williams and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Don graduated from Freeport High School in 1951. He worked in the brick yard until 1953 when he enlisted in the Army, serving in Germany. Don got his undergraduate degree at Indiana State College and went on to earn a Master's degree and a PhD. He worked as a principal and supervisor in Special Education for 33 years. He retired from Allegheny Intermediate Unit in 1993.
Don was active in all sports, especially tennis, hockey, and touch football. He was a Steeler fan and never missed a Super Bowl.
Don was a self-taught artist and sold many of his paintings in shows and galleries.
Don loved his church family of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot. He taught Bible Study in his home with his wife Lynn for over 10 years. Don had great faith and love for his Lord and Savior that led him to his eternal home.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Fox Funeral Home, Inc., 410 W. Main Street, Saxonburg, PA.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cabot, with Rev. Jared Townley officiating. Everyone please meet at the church.
Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery.
