Doris L. McCall, 96, of Cabot, went peacefully to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 14, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
She was born in Jefferson County on December 3, 1924 to Raymond Gahagen and Mildred Himes. Her husband, Nick McCall, preceded her in death by 40 years as well as her parents, her older sister, Geraldine Doerr and her twin sister, Dorothy Fox. Surviving are her son, Douglas (Linda) McCall of Cabot, two grandchildren, Stacy (Mike) Vernier and Steven (Dana) McCall, as well as three great-grandchildren, Brooke McCall, Alex Vernier and Luke Vernier. She is also survived by her niece, Linda, who helped take care of her, and several other nieces and nephews.
Doris was a longtime active member of Zion U.M. Church in Sarver and a current member of Cabot U.M. Church. Doris worked at Du-Co Ceramics in Saxonburg for 28 years before retiring in 1998. Doris loved to read and her favorite book was the Bible. If you walked into her house, she was usually sitting in chair her reading scripture. She was a prayer warrior who prayed on a consistent basis for her family, her friends, and her neighbors. She loved them all and was concerned for their life and their salvation.
There will be a private viewing and burial service, officiated by the Rev. Jared Townley of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot.
Interment will be in the Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to Freeport Meals on Wheels, Cabot UMC or St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cabot.
