Eleanor A. (Schober) Dussling
Age 85 of Hampton Township fell asleep to the Lord on June 17, 2020. Born on December 28, 1934 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Josef Julius Wendall Schober and Anna Burik Schober. Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband Erik Hans Dussling in 1993. She graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1953. Eleanor worked in the accounting department for Westinghouse Electric Company for 20 years until her husband was transferred to Westinghouse Headquarters in Pittsburgh in 1972, thus making their home in Allison Park. Eleanor was a member of the Northampton Garden Club, Allison Park Piccadilly Club of Pittsburgh and a member of the Herb Society of America for over 50 years. Eleanor was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Ambridge and the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the USA located in Johnstown, PA. Eleanor had many interests which included gardening, needle work, making beautiful quilts, oil painting, decorative Norwegian Rosemaling painting, tole painting, theorem painting, reverse glass painting and painting/decorating Easter Eggs (Pysanka). Eleanor was an excellent cook and baker, especially when it came to making her infamous Pascha and St. Basil breads. Eleanor was a warm and welcoming hostess who charmed people from around the world. Eleanor traveled the world over the years and planned/led eight pilgrimages with Metropolitan Nicholas Smisko of the American Carpatho Russian Orthodox Diocese which included trips to the Holy Land, Constantinople, pilgrimages to Greece following the footsteps of St. Paul, two pilgrimages for the Millennium of Christianity to Russia, trips to the Republic of Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, and the Ukraine. On September 11, 2019, Eleanor joined the Sisterhood of the Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Monastery in Saxonburg, Pa. She was tonsured a great-schema nun and give the name of Sister Nymphodora. Burial will be at the Theotokos Monastery in Saxonburg.
