Gary L. McLafferty, 83, of Cabot passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 22, 2023 at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born September 22, 1940 in West Winfield, he was the son of Peter Clover McLafferty and Mary Ethel Bauldoff McLafferty.
Gary graduated from Knoch High School in 1959. He had worked at Armco in Plant Protection and retired from Penn United Technologies as a press operator.
Gary's greatest joy was attending any activity that his grandchildren were involved in. He also enjoyed displaying his recently found painting talent, playing bingo, feeding the ducks at the pond and putting lots of pepper on his food.
Surviving are his wife, Helen (Mochel) McLafferty, whom he married September 18, 1965, three sons, Patrick (Sheila) McLafferty of Acme, Mark (Susan) McLafferty of Worthington and Jeffrey (Kathy) McLafferty of Lower Burrell, his brother, George (Nancy) McLafferty of Saxonburg, his sister, Mary Tirk of Butler and sister-in-law, Helen J. McLafferty of Saxonburg, seven grandchildren, Sarah Winders and her husband Travis, Megan, Stephane, Erin, Austen, Matthew and Kara McLafferty, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James McLafferty and Edward McLafferty and his wife Carmella, also his brother-in-law, George Tirk.
As per Gary's wishes, there will be no visitation, private interment will be at the Butler County Memorial Park.
Gary's family would like to thank all the skilled nursing and activities staff at the Lund Care Center who took such good care of him for the past two years.
