John L. Schmeider

 John L. Schmeider, 74, of Cabot, passed away on November 19, 2024 at  Allegheny General Hospital. 
 
 Born June 8, 1950 in Natrona Heights, he was the son of Paul Schmeider, Sr. and Dorothy Edwards Schmeider.
 
John had worked at the US Steel Sintering Plant in Saxonburg in the melt shop until its closing.  He then worked as a custodian at the Winfield Elementary School and Knoch High School.  He was a member of Cabot Church.   He enjoyed gardening, coin collecting, hunting, puzzles, searching for covered bridges and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
 
 Surviving are wife, Susan L Schmeider, whom he married October 16, 2004, his daughter, Tamy (Richard) Purcell of Cabot, his son, John L. Schmeider, Jr. of Cabot, his friend and mother of his children, Marianne Schmeider, three step-daughters, Sarah (Jay) Barlett of Ford City, Emily Keeler of Ford City and Rebecca Reefer of Rural Valley, his siblings,  Paul (Alice) Schmeider, Jr. of Cabot,  Judy (Dennis) Shelton of Cabot, Doris McKinney of Cabot and  Ray (Pat) Schmeider of Georgia, and his grandchildren, Kaila, Killian and Keira, Leah, Aubrey, Isaac.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruthann Kammerer. 
 
 Friends will be received on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Fox Funeral Home, Inc., Saxonburg, PA.
     
 Services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, 11:00 am at the Cabot Church, Cabot, PA, with Rev. Jonathan Fehl officiating.
