John Wetick Obituary

John S. Wetick, 88, of Butler passed away on  January 14, 2024 at his home.

Born May 15, 1935 in Butler, he was the son of John Wetick and Mary Czap Wetick.

John served in the US Army having been drafted twice, serving from 1958-1960 and 1961-1962 in Germany with Elvis Presley.

John worked as a meat cutter for Thorofare Markets until their closing in the early 1980's. He then began working at the Butler Farm Market where he worked as a meat manager from their opening in 1983 until his retirement in 1998. He spent many years as a part-time mechanic for Jack's Wheelhorse.  He continued his hard work and dedication by working at the Fox Funeral Home as a right-hand man for 17 years, until his official retirement at age 81.  He served on the Saxonburg Area Authority and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Butler.  He enjoyed hunting, especially his trips to Wyoming. His other hobbies included fishing, cooking, gardening, canning, and fixing anything that needed fixed. John was always willing to help anyone that needed a hand. He spent many years helping "the guys" cook chickens for many area fund raisers. He had the best smile, the biggest heart and a love for all animals. Spending time with family was most important to him.
