Margaret M. "Peggy" Matas, 79, of Sarver, passed away on December 29, 2023 at the Allegheny Valley Hospital.
Born August 4, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Ernest Gigliotti and Sophie Batis Gigliotti.
Peggy was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish-St. Joseph Church, Cabot and a former Board of Trustees at the Saxonburg Area Library. She was a life-long Steelers fan. Peggy loved people and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are husband, George E. Matas, whom she married February 1, 1969, her children, Scott (Kristin) Matas of Mooresville, NC, Kerri Matas of Philadelphia, and Tammy (Jonathan) Thackston of Athens, AL, her brother, Ernest (Julie) Giglotti of Jeanette, PA, and six grandchildren, Connor Matas, Sophia Thackston, Claire Matas, Nathan Thackston, Maggi Schuchholz and Ella Matas.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Fox Funeral Home, Inc., Saxonburg, PA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish-St. Joseph Church at 11 am with Father Ward Stakem, OFM Cap., officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
