Margaret J. "Peggy" Melore

Margaret J. Melore (Peggy), 95, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, surrounded by her children.

Born November 13, 1927, in Squirrel Hill, Pennsylvania.  She was the daughter of James and Dorothy Ewing.   

She married the late Daniel R. Melore in 1954 where they lived in Penn Township for nearly 60 years.  Peggy is survived by three children:  Daniel (Michelle) Melore, of Amelia Island, Florida; Maribeth Crouch, of Saxonburg; and  Barbara (Jeff)  Lyon of Brentwood, Tennessee.  She is survived by 7 grandchildren.  Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband in 2009, and her daughter Susan Melore in 2022.   

After attending Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, Peggy worked for a short period of time in the banking industry.  She was a member of Holy Sepulcher Catholic Church, Penn Township Woman’s Club and delivered Meals on Wheels.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, reading, and making wine. She loved to share stories about her childhood growing up at Dalzell Place in Squirrel Hill.   She always provided positive support and love for her family.  She was a kind and caring person, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family wants to express its appreciation to the caregivers who took excellent care of her.  Thank you for the love and care you provided to our Mom.

A celebration of life for Margaret Melore will be scheduled at a later date.
