Phyllis McCrea

Phyllis Emma Bauman McCrea transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on December 17, 2024 at Concordia at Cabot.
Phyllis was born on September 26,1927 to Ken and Nelma Bauman at Bachman’s Corner .
She spent an idyllic childhood, daily running from her home across the field to her beloved grandparents farm. She often spoke of her love for them and how much she still missed them.
Faith and family were the main stays of Phyllis’s life. She was a lifelong member of Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian church, where she served as a deacon, elder, clerk of session and unofficial church historian. When asked, Phyllis would say the only thing she ever wanted to be was a mom. She delighted in spoiling her grandchildren and adored her great grandchildren. Until her eyesight failed, she meticulously cross-stitched Christmas stockings for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to bake and took great pride that her rye bread sold out before it reached the baked goods table.! She never met a dog she didn’t love. Well into her 90s she poured over the spring seed and bulb catalogs looking to add flowers to her lovely gardens.
She is survived by her children, Terri Kramer (Vincent) Long Valley, New Jersey, Robin Turnbaugh (Larry) Chesterfield NH, Ken McCrea (Cindy) Cabot Pa; her nine grandchildren Vincent, James, Christian, Jonathan, Seth, Emma, Meghan, KJ , Lauren; her five great grandchildren Vincent, Madelyn, Jack, Max and Rylan.  She is also survived by her AFS daughters Angela Horak of Austria and Marianne Suter of Switzerland.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, James, in 1989
She delighted in telling the story of how she met him when she was 13 years old at Lernerville  roller rink.

Services will be held at Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 21st.  The family will be receiving friends and family from 2:00 – 3:00 and the Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 pm, with a dinner following.
