Robert Francis Ruk, 81, of Sarver passed away peacefully Saturday, December 16, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on November 22, 1942, he was the loving husband of the late Donna Grace (Yetter) Ruk, who he married on Aug. 17, 1990; the son of the late Casmier Ruk of Natrona Heights and Aldona Misutka of Ford City; brother to the late Marsha (Ruk) Campbell of Ford City; and grandson to the late Frank and Stella Matulewicz of Sarver, who raised him on the family farm that remained very near and dear to his heart up until his final days.
Bob was a graduate of Knoch High School and a retiree of Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Breckenridge, where he worked as an inspector along the banks of the Allegheny River. In addition, he was a social member of the East Butler Volunteer Fire and Relief Association, the Tarentum Elks Lodge #644, the Butler County Pomona Grange #17, and a talented member of the Blazin’ Blades Scrollers.
A country boy to his core, Bob was proud of his Polish roots and passionate about farming, gardening, scroll sawing, hunting, and cutting wood on his sawmill. He was also known to dance the night away to the music of the country music bands in the area.
Surviving is his daughter, Renee (Ruk) Hayes and Son-in-Law, William Hayes of Mars, and his grandchildren, Stanley, Lindsey, and Levi Hayes. Robert’s legacy will live on through a final act of tissue donation with CORE (Center for Organ Recovery and Education).
