Roland "Bud" Weckerly Obituary

Roland "Bud" Weckerly, 90 of Butler passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born May 1, 1933 in Butler, PA, he was the son of the late Albert Weckerly and Helen Kepple Weckerly.

Bud was a graduate of Penn Township High School, where he won the State Championship for basketball his senior year in high school. He retired from Armco where he was employed for over 30 years in the labor department. He was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, Butler, where he was a deacon, a member of the choir, volunteered for many activities and arranged a yearly church corn roast which started in 1943 and is still ongoing. He loved singing and recorded himself during the Covid pandemic so it could be played for people who were quarantined and in isolation. Many nurses called him their "singing strength" and he was featured in an article in the Butler Eagle. He was also a member of the William H. Miller Lodge #769, New Castle Consistory and a member of the Syria Shrine.  Bud was a lifelong dairy farmer who loved his John Deere tractors. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting, and dancing. Bud was accepting and had love for everyone. He always said "it is what it is."
