Samuel “Sam” P. Crawford Sr., 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2022, in his home in Lumberton, NC with his beloved wife by his side.
Born in Natrona Heights, PA on March 16, 1958, he was a caring and supportive son to the late Howard “Bud” G. and Betty M. Fox Crawford.
Sam graduated from Knoch High School in Saxonburg, PA in 1976. Before he retired to NC, Sam worked at C.H. Snyder Company in Cabot, PA, where he served diligently as a laborer, foreman, laboratory technician, and chief chemist for 37 years. He had an infectious smile and his witticism was unmatched. Sam enjoyed telling riddles and jokes to bring joy to others. Both his inquisitiveness and memory made him a master of trivia and history.
Sam loved spending time with family and friends—especially his best friend the late Terry Hoak. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing the slots. He was sports-loving as well, as an avid bowler, golfer, and baseball/softball player. Sam’s love of sports and family led to him coaching his daughter’s softball team in the Saxonburg Area Girls Softball Association. This is just one example of him teaching and shaping others for success.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sandra “Sandy” Barger Crawford. He also is survived by his brother James R. Crawford of Butler, PA and sister June A. Crawford of Saxonburg, PA. He instilled his family centric values and kind heartedness in his survived children, a son Samuel P. Crawford, Jr. (Alyssa) of Altoona, PA; a daughter Melissa S. Bryan of Wildwood, MO; a son Terrence “Terry” R. Crawford (Shannan) of Kissimmee, FL; and ten beautiful grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his older brothers H. Daniel Crawford and Dennis A. Crawford.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Saturday, January 29th at Fox Funeral Home Inc., 410 West Main St., Saxonburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Limbs for Life Foundation or the American Kidney Fund.
