Dear Amadee Family,

I was shocked to hear of Don's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him for the past four and half years as a member of the CDC staff. He was a loving and caring individual as well as a consummate professional. May you find some comfort in knowing that you have a wonderful guardian angel guiding you all from above.

Amy-
Don was a great friend - we shared a lot of time together in a crew shell at the Academy and Don was a sword bearer at my wedding to Jennifer (and let me borrow a t-shirt to wear under my whites!). It was always great to get together again at various events over the years. It seems like just yesterday that Jennifer and I saw you guys at the reunion. I wish that I could have made it to the funeral, but just got back home from a trip.

I am still in shock and it's been 3 days since I heard the news. I could not believe it when Chris Fahy emailed me the obituary. So sudden. Too young. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you; you two were always such a couple. My heart goes out to you and the girls.

Jennifer and I will keep you in our prayers.

Amy,
I know how much Don means to me and how much I love him. The pieces of his life that I was blessed to enjoy I can never repay, but will forever cherish. None of us had the pieces of him that you did so I could not begin to understand what you are going thru. I read this morning Proverbs 16:7 "When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him". I don't know of anything that better expresses my thoughts and the true essence of Don's life. The Lord is truly pleased with him. We love you and are so very sorry.

Amy and the entire Amadee Family,
I was Don's roommate during the first semester of our first year at the Coast Guard Academy. Our first year was not an easy one, but Don always had a smile on his face, offered a word of encouragement and was willing to go out of his way to help anyone who needed it. He exemplified all that was good with his calm, friendly and caring demeanor. He was an excellent officer and more importantly, an outstanding person who defined honor and integrity. While he will certainly be missed, he made a lasting, positive impression on so many people that he is still close by. Please accept my personal condolences and those from the Class of 87.

Please accept my family's sincere condolences. You and your family are in our prayers.

Dear Amy, Kelly, Carol and Celestine,
No words can express how sorry we are to hear about Don. It still doesn't seem real and out hearts go out to you. We may not see each other often but we are like family. A Coast Guard family who never forgot about each other. Don & Amy taking time to visit me and Rocco on their summer vacations ment so much to us and Tony. Don and Amy's love for each other and their girls shown brightly and to loose him in the prime of his life must be heartbreaking. Tony thought so much of Don and said today the only reason he would attention their 30th CG reunion was to be able to see Don. Our hearts are broken and our thoughts, prayers and love are with you all.
With Sympathy, Rocco & Sue

Amy, Mrs. Amadee, and the entire family,
I was devastated to learn of the sudden and unexpected loss of Don today. There are only a handful of people in our lives that can be called "best friend." Don was one of those few to me since we met at the Coast Guard Academy back in 1983. The laughs, good times, and sea stories go on and on with our time spent together in class, sailing, eating, visiting family in PA and CT, and having so many great conversations about life and the world. Amy and Don have been like family members over the years visiting me at my various duty stations, and visiting my parents in New London, CT at least every few years. I will never forget Don as a best friend, proud and loving husband and parent, and as a proud American with great compassion, integrity, and a great sense of humor.

With My Deepest Sympathy,
Tony
