Howard L. Halstead, 93 of Saxonburg passed away on October 16, 2016 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born December 12, 1922 in Saxonburg, PA, he was the son of James G. Halstead and Bessie G. Leslie Halstead.

Howard was a dairy farmer, having started his herd when he was 18 until 1996. He also had an egg and produce route for over 50 years in northern Allegheny County.

He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where he had been a former Elder, Sunday School teacher and choir director. Clinton Twp. Election Board and planning commission, South Butler School Director during the 1970's, Butler Co Ag. Extension, Butler Co. Holstein Board and PA Holstein Board. Former director of the PA Farm Credit and National PCA Board. Lifetime member of the Sarver Mens' Chorus and former 4H Leader. He made many friends and often stated how much he loved people.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy S. (Staley) Halstead, whom he married June 18, 1947, 1 son, James H. (Linda) Halstead of Saxonburg, 2 daughters, Rebecca (David) Griffith of Madison, OH, Ellen H. (David) Fogel of Saxonburg and Ruth H. (Tom) Bates of San Antonio, TX, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Jon R. Halstead, 1 daughter, Melinda Pegher and 3 brothers, Clair K. Halstead, Rev. Paul J. Halstead and Carl H. Halstead.

Friends will be received from Tuesday, October 18, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Fox Funeral Home, Inc., Saxonburg, PA.

Services will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 am at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Saxonburg, with Rev. John Porter officiating.

Interment will follow in Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
