Ich habe in letzter Zeit viel an meine Verwandten in USA und auch an dich Melvin gedacht und mich gefragt, wie es euch geht. Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere haben wir uns nur einmal in unserem Leben gesehen, und das war 1963 als ich mit meiner Mutter dich und deine Familie besucht habe. Ich erinnere mich gerne daran. Vielleicht hätten wir uns öfter sehen sollen.

I'm sorry learning about Mel's passing. While we've not seen each other for too long, I remember him fondly, as a very kind, handsome, and happy young man with a warm spirit and great sense of humor. . We enjoyed playing little league baseball together. His Pirates and my Giants always had good games, and Mel was a fine player. I had great respect and appreciation for the service he gave to our nation. My thoughts and prayers are with Mel's family and friends. RIP friend. Semper Fi.
